As FCS patients we are all aware how important following our diet is, and this is especially true during the travel times. I have been an FCS patient for over 25 years. Like most people, I enjoy traveling, but dietary restrictions are a major source of anxiety and stress. I would like to share some of my experiences and ideas that my wife and I have used to make traveling more fun and less stressful.

When we travel in the United States, we always try to find hotels that have a refrigerator in the room, and preferably a kitchenette. This allows us to purchase healthy low-fat foods and snacks for making breakfasts and lunches.
When traveling outside of the United States food is even more of an issue. Some of the major obstacles in eating a healthy diet are, being unfamiliar with the cuisine, the ingredients that are used in preparation of the foods, the language barrier, and hotels with a refrigerator are not as prevalent. Hence, this increases the risk of eating high fat foods.
For these reasons, we have found that taking a cruise is the best way to go. It minimizes the risk of eating the wrong food. Also, the menus are more familiar, and they are very accommodating for adjusting their menu to meet my needs. Hopefully, what I have shared will be of value to you. I wish you safe and healthy travels.
